Clippers Post Season To Do List

There’s no doubt, with a season-ending 4 game losing streak to the Memphis Grizzlies that the Los Angeles Clippers have a lot to think about this offseason. Can Blake Griffin make Sport Center for anything other than a dunk? I’d like to see highlights of his defense or maybe hitting 50% of his jumpers… but I’m a dreamer. Can they fill the off guard spot? Jamal Crawford has solidified his position with a “6th Man of the Year”-worthy season, but who’s going to start the games? Willie Green did a great job in my opinion, but was it good enough to end the season with rings? I’m not even including Chauncey in the equation. He did not provide enough offense (or defense for that matter) to warrant having his name called in the dark infront of 30,000 fans.

There’s also a salary cap concern. The Clippers HAVE TO sign Chris Paul, which means they have to find another 15 million to pay the All NBA point guard. DeAndre is getting paid 10 million. That’s right… 10 million US dollars per year and he can’t even hit a free throw, an uncontested shot from a very reasonable distance. I do like DeAndre’s athleticism, but inorder to keep CP3 the Clippers need that money. There’s plenty more they need to deal with, like what to do about the head coaching position. Can Vinny Del Negro give enough direction to lead a young team? What about his inability to adapt when the normal rotations aren’t matching up well?

Believe it or not there’s even more. Here’s my to-do list for the Clipps this summer.

  1. Re-sign Chris Paul
  2. Replace Vinny Del Negro
  3. Trade DeAndre Jordan
  4. Re-sign Matt Barnes and PAY THE MAN WHAT HE DESERVES!
  5. Teach Ryan Hollins how to play defense without fouling
  6. Keep Lamar Odom in shape and off the small screen
  7. Pick up a jump shooter to start in front of Jamal Crawford
  8. Move Chauncey Billups to a back up point guard or trade the old guy
